I am certain the response is not to the food in general, but specifically to glucose obtainable from carbs in food. External glucose always needs more external glucose. It is mostly that. The rest is simply boredom and search for distraction, no hormons involved. But if you remove the first reason, then when you will be tempted to eat by boredom, you will feel your stomack objecting. Boredom might still win over stomack sometimes, but that is a whole different thing from eating almost all day long thinking it is because of hunger, genes, etc. I am not saying zero carbs diet. I have not tested that enough. But saying little carbs strictly no more often than once a day has worked very well for a very long time for me. With carbs I am very strict to myself with max once a day rule. Not as strict with proteins and fat, but still I never really need to eat more than once.
