Is filtering notifications by location (those around you... say +/-50 miles) something interesting or not? I don't know if I can find a good use case for it. Send me your ideas
Now? No. 5 years? Sure.
Goonies never die 😂🫂🫡
WOLVERINES!
😂😂😂 RedDawn said what? So good. 😊
Yik yak was relevant for my freshman year of college and it was great. Could talk shit about the college anonymously, tease other dorms, talk about upcoming events. No idea why they self immolated tbh
I remember that one!
This requires to share my exact location, but I don't want it. Sorry, but it will useless for me
You don't need to share your location, you can just filter by it. That information doesn't go anywhere. And all relays already know where you are located if you are not using Tor or a VPN, so..
Talvez fosse possível usar para compra e venda de produtos, mas, realmente, acho que ainda não temos volume para isso.
- Events like concerts and conferences - Friend / date finder client - Staying abreast of current events in a certain region (if you allow filtering by locations other than your own as well) - Harvest times, weather conditions - Birding, whalespotting, observing the natural world in other ways - Some people might just be particularly interested in what’s happening locally for whatever other reason
on second thought tho.. let the chaos reign with tor 😂😂
I think you would have to add phone location to the post intentionally. It would be heavily opt in.
It would be good, but I don't think there are any other Hungarian Nostr users so close to me :-(
I see a use cases for reviews of local services, local or regional meetups, festivals, tourist attractions, cheeper gas prices finder 😄. There are many use cases actually. It would be useful for those who have no issues sharing their location.
Why don't start with more basic stuff like a client-based simple notification whenever you get a new 'follower/contact' on your noub? There should be a technical solution or a shortcut to this issue. It would really increase the engagement and reciprocal connection among the npubs
That will never be solved. Nostr is not consistent by design. Whatever number comes back is only a number of the subs that are visible to you and the relays you are using at any given moment. It's impossible to know how many followers you have.
Thanks for the explanation. It's a real pity though.. Basically the only way to be sure the npub you follow knows it is to GM him in the DM. Am I right? If so, why not developing a path on the client side to give this optionality every time you click the 'follow' button?
It would also be broken because many clients will not implement that, especially the new ones. So your follow counter will never resemble the real value.
Got it 😟
this could perhaps be used to make an app that resembles those facebook clone 'community'/'neighbourhood' bulletin boards
I want to send a zapvertisement to only my local nostr friends about a bitcoin meetup i think this would be a reason
How about a decentralized ride-sharing app, like Uber but over Nostr? Filtering notifications by location would be critical for that.
Would be useful for local marketplace listings.
If the question involves Amethyst, I don't think it should be a priority at all. Maybe as a standalone app for a different purpose. I'd much rather more support for DMs and group DMs with a NIP 17 standard across the board. Then I could use Amethyst for DMs without having to use 0xChat for groups. 🙂🙏🏻
Heard about https://jodel.com/en/ ? Could be used for a separate app apart from amethyst. Something doesn't sit right being notification tracked.
No es necesario/interesante
