 âš¡ EARN 1000 SAT ZAP âš¡

I'm looking for, constructive, detailed feedback on the AlgoRelay quality.

Please visit this coracle page and login:
https://coracle.social/relays/wss%3A%2F%2Falgo.utxo.one%2F

Then provide answers/comments to these questions:

 - did you like this feed better than chronological
 - did it show you users you care about
 - did you find notes you didn't see before and glad you caught them here
 - were you confused why a certain post appeared, and please provide the note ID of any such cases
 - did a user show up too often and you thought it was annoying
 - anything else you think will help me improve it

Any feedback that's just like "it's good" or "didn't like it" will not be zapped - I need details please!

Today it's not even letting me see it lol. Says failed to log in. And an empty 'that's all'. I clicked 'join' ¯â \â _â (â ãƒ„â )â _â /â Â¯.

No idea why I was able to see it yesterday
Server getting absolutely slammed right now lol sorry pls try in 5 mins or so

I didn't like it better than chronological, but that could change if I was not as active on Nostr.

Mostly, I guess, though I do care more about 6 people.

No, I've seen all of them.

Yes, why were notes from 3-4 weeks ago showing up? I didn't like that. I'd like more notes from the last week.

Yes. It reminded me of the hard coded npubs that Primal used to use. It was the same 6 people over and over again.

It's a good start, but I'd like notes from more people I engage with or that engage with me. More plebs. Way more plebs.
Did you just try it, or is this from yesterday? Because I just put a big update in
â–² â–¼
Yes, I just clicked the link now and used the relay for the very first time. I did not look at it yesterday.
â–² â–¼
Doesn't work, no need for zaps
 Pls try now server bigger

-The chronological feed will always seem more intuitive to me. The other networks already select for us. I believe that nostr needs to be different. A "For You" " filter can resolve without direct intervention in the chronological feed.
/
-Yes, it's working as expected here.
/
-No, not yet. Much like the first answer. I don't know if the nostr user would like to passively receive what he doesn't seek. Sounds strange to us.
/
-Not yet. Sorry.
/
-Just who I follow. Other clients respond in the same way.
/
-I believe that the client needs a better image. Most of the time I look like I'm looking at a 2010s website about technology. Everything also seems to be execiously separated and empty.

I hope it helped. Thank you for contributing to the nostr development.

It's no longer working for me. It worked yesterday, but today it's not returning any notes.
â–² â–¼
Edit: It's back up for me

Ok, so the relay is definitely generating a much higher quality feed than the typical experience. Notes returned were mostly from accounts I'm associated with, but there were some accounts I'm unfamiliar with who made the cut. I'm assuming they're "friends of friends".

Almost without exception, the note quality was high. No mediocre 2-sentence posts, none of the typical "Bitcoin is the way" ra ra cheerleading. These are informative and interesting posts that I actually want to read from people I enjoy hearing from, or newcomers I want to follow. The mixed chronology is a bit confusing at first, but it's not a detriment to the experience.

I am confused about how well this relay will play with others on a variety of clients. I imagine that the benefits of the algorithm relay will be ruined, or at least diminished when a feed is made up of a blend of relays, or by the client's own meddling.

Overall, a really nice experience in this demo environment. It's just the concerns I mentioned about interoperability with other relays and clients I'm unsure of.
Clients will definitely need to provide some kind of view for just single relays like this, then different relays will have different algorithms you can toggle between

Thanks for you feedback, glad you liked it better

I think nostr:nprofile1qqsyvrp9u6p0mfur9dfdru3d853tx9mdjuhkphxuxgfwmryja7zsvhqppemhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mp0qythwumn8ghj7anfw3hhytnwdaehgu339e3k7mf0qyghwumn8ghj7mn0wd68ytnhd9hx2tch2deau is interested in making Amethyst work with the relay, so maybe that can be your next test environment.

 - I'm partial to something more chronological. (I'm also fond of how satellite surfaces things that my follows are replying to, instead of their reply)

- I see probably equal notes from people I don't interact with their stuff often, to people that I do.

- Not confused, but it's showing me notes from people I have unfollowed within the last month or so. That could be something to weigh, if possible. My unfollows are rarely personal, but I imagine some are for some people.

- It seems to favor frequent posters... not annoying, somewhat expected, but for a small follow list, it is a bit heavy in that direction. I had a good stretch of just you & Derek lol

- It was quite a long scroll before I saw any notes from anyone that I follow & interact with almost daily that isn't a well-known. It's almost all prolific people.

-It didn't surface anything new to me, even from the people I don't follow, and again, all stuff from the cool kids. That's not a bad thing for new folks, maybe not so appealing to established users though.

It wasn't bad, by any means. If that was how I started with nostr, I probably wouldn't have thought twice about what was going on.

 Thank you great feedback

 Very welcome, and thank you.

It showed me mostly notes from Odell, Carla, Walker and your notes about the Haven relays

I prefer chronological because there’s way more content. I think there was maybe 20 notes and then the feed was done. I don’t have a good point of comparison though

This would be super interesting if it had way more notes. And less of the celebs.

I don’t understand why it showed me this note from Bitcoin veterans. I don’t follow that npub

Thanks for feedback. The feed running out is actually a coracle issue, relay can easily give you thousands of notes. Hopefully we can fix it soon or more clients will support it.

It's trying to show notes outside your follows to help discover new people to follow, think of it like a higher quality global feed.
â–² â–¼
I also got a lot of ODELL notes. Not that I don't like reading his stuff, but it was a bit ODELL-heavy.
â–² â–¼
Ah that explains that note. The others I follow. I like the concept: this will help to find more npubs to follow. I’ll be able to give better feedback once the Coracle issue is fixed
â–² â–¼
can we get a mobile app so I can tell you? 😉
â–² â–¼
What did I do wrong here? 😅

 That worked. Here’s my feedback:

 - did you like this feed better than chronological
No, I prefer the chronological feed more. This one showed a mix of recent notes and older notes, which wasn’t necessarily a bad thing, but some that were nearly a month old and that’s too far back. I would only be interested in notes from perhaps the last day or two at most. And it only showed notes from a handful of of the same people.
 - did it show you users you care about
Some of them were users I care about, but some were not. Some were people I don’t even follow. I would prefer it to be only notes from people I follow.
 - did you find notes you didn't see before and glad you caught them here
No. The notes it showed were popular notes that get shared a lot anyway and so I already had seem them.
 - were you confused why a certain post appeared, and please provide the note ID of any such cases
No, I wasn’t confused by any of the notes being included, besides preferring to only see notes from users I follow.
 - did a user show up too often and you thought it was annoying
Yes. It was primarily posts from Odell, Walker, Gigi, Lyn, and NVK. As much as I may like them and their posts, there did seem to be a heavy representation of their content on the feed compared to other users.
- anything else you think will help me improve it
It would be more interesting if the notes shown were pulled from my own follows, or even better from those of my follows that I interact with most. But if it’s meant to surface other users that I don’t follow, then it would be good to show a variety of users and not simply the same popular notes by the same popular users shown on other trending feeds.

You still need help? Heard the servers might be getting slammed.
 Yes pls
â–² â–¼
I really like the flyout for message replies, showing the most recent reply but then very easily being able to expand all previous replies
â–² â–¼
There's something really wrong with this algorithm: most of my friends are Brazilians speaking portuguese, and I mostly interact in Portuguese, but there wasn't a single Brazilian in this feed and not a single post in Portuguese.

Only English.

Só it didn't show what I wanted to see. Not even close.

 IMHO:

- i like it, but chrono order are too much important for a social... had to be the priority;
- yah, mostrly from my subscriptions;
- some new note! Really new and ok with my style;
- no strange posts behavior;
- still happens a little... too much from the same users sometimes;
- you are doing an excellent work, mate... i'll keep an eye on it 8)

TY!

 At first, it looked better.

Higher-quality posts and less general social network posts but they were just lower in the feed.

I only saw 18 posts from the usual trending users on Nostr and mostly notes I had already seen. So there is no noticeable difference for me.

As I have not interacted yet with many people, this is probably not bringing value to new users yet as they see the same as the Trending 24H notes.

I would find an algo surfacing notes by topic and quality much more useful. For instance, find the top 10 artists, writers, musicians,... or recommend more.

 - I like this feed. I liked the filter option and wot scores, even though I am yet to figure it out completely it's an indicator of trust..
- yes, when the filter is set ro people it does show people i care about. However, when i chose a topic i know the people i follow post in, it didn't show the posts, instead it was showing posts from others
- yes, i found new notes which is not seen otherwise
- the memes channel i follow showed up quite often but that is definitely not annoying
- i would like to say that the login was seamless even on mobile without extension
  - Chronological is tough to beat, still found some influencoors in the feed that i'd rather not see (but that's going to be hard to get past)
 - I did find a few plebs that I didn't follow so that was definitely positive
 - Yes, did find a couple post I hadn't seen before!
 - Don't really know the logic behind the algo so can't really comment on whether I was confused or not. Overall, I thought it was a nice switch from chronological ordered notes, but I think chronological would always be first place for me
 - Didn't see any user that appeared too often
 - If there was a way to maybe input some hashtags you're interested in and somehow incorporate that into the algo? I donno, just spitballin
And did forget to say, good alpha effort...NOSTR needs alternatives and progress
Nope, every person who queries it gets a personalized feed

The relay owner only controls how the algorithm ranks stuff
 Great feedback thank you
