Oddbean new post about login | logout DMs are kind of like this now but people are treated as strangers by default (rightfully so). We could keep it all in one dm area as long as there was some way to indicate that you allow a person to go straight to your “known contacts”

That too but it’s a bit different too. Creators want to make sure they can reach their audiences directly, but in a mutually agreed way (not like sending random dms to people). Following people doesn’t mean I want to get nonstop dms from them unless I specially say I do.
