we need more bridges to bluesky. bridge everything. don't respect borders. they don't exist.
We need a bridge that pipes our content to Bluesky.
There’s a client that cross posts to blue sky
Oh, that's pretty cool. I don't use Bluesky, but I think it's great that the cross-post functionality exists for people who do. It would be cool if there were checkboxes for all the various SocMed platforms and you could set a default scheme, or select on every post. It would be a great way to expand your reach, and easily purple-pill folks on other platforms.
You can’t respond to them though. You’d need to create an account first
It's possible to create infinite accounts in Bluesky
openness is one of the killer features of #nostr. Be open, build bridges, flood relays with data, run your own DVM
No, nostr doesn’t do killer apps and features. This is so we can say suck by ass, #killemall
Yes though, because that's nostr. If someone wills it it will be. However you'll be able to block their posts easily so no worry.
not your relay, not your tags I’m not.

surely @jack must be supportive of this.. ..do you know? I can imagine a tipping point where social media becomes so fragmented that it is a marketing advantage to allow integration with other networks. (And obviously that means nostr will eat everything eventually)
nostr's main benefit is actually about being able to have isolated networks bluesky and other social networks don't make this easy, except garbage like matrix and xmpp which don't enable generalised discussion or any other use case particularly i hope you read this message because most nostr devs don't understand that the whole POINT of nostr is being able to partition it, that's why it's not a distributed system, it's just a protocol
When you say "don't make this easy" you mean the heavy lifting involved on their side? This from one of the atproto leads: "One form of decentralization I could try to emphasize here is independent Lexicons. For example, this blog post is published using whtwnd.com, a blogging platform built on atproto. In theory the Bluesky relay or appview being down should not impact whtwnd (which I believe pulls directly from PDS instances)" https://whtwnd.com/bnewbold.net/entries/Reply%20on%20Bluesky%20and%20Decentralization Seems this WhiteWind is some kind of Yakihonne on atproto. As I understand they will have spun up their own child relay and are using that to pull from a select set of PDS instances to create an isolated network. Very much a guess though, I could be way off.
there is no way to bridge our stuff to there
Nostr profiles are already being bridged over to Bluesky, for example: https://bsky.app/profile/npub1wmr34t36fy03m8hvgl96zl3znndyzyaqhwmwdtshwmtkg03fetaqhjg240.momostr.pink.ap.brid.gy
and Bluesky profiles are bridged here using @mostr like so: nostr:nprofile1qqsfxure5s8y5q4yk3nqxzfk4xyukzuap23qux6d8y396qdpxv85wrspz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujumt0wd68ytnsw43qz9thwden5te0v35hgar09ec82c30wfjkccte5ygyjc
Nice!
Nice
That’s pretty cool
Build the bridge and let the bluesky ban hammer send people over to nostr
How many Nostr relays can handle that traffic?
Try crossing the borders of my house. Ill show you how real they can be.
Don't respect borders? I wish that for the next week you experience the actual meaning of your words and then think again. A border means that beyond that boundary something is precious and protected. If you stand for nothing and protect nothing then maybe you should abstain from formulating life advices for others.
You have not read the Declaration of Independance? No physical borders to speak of. This simulacra will eat the world. Only Sovereign Individuals. We go where we want and do what we want. You misunderstand either ignorantly or purposely the intent of the note. Read our declaration. https://www.eff.org/cyberspace-independence
Bluesky is gay
nostr's distinctive difference is that you can do that most social networks are consensus based and borderless, yet funny enough they need all this moderation ownership can control most of this, and nostr stands ready to enable it
Yes, something like family only relay is possible.
it practically can be done right now with #realy and a client that doesn't presume to try and smoosh you into the rest of the network, as most of them do
Nostrudel and Amethyst are pretty damn customizable too, they're probably really good for home-only networks, yeah?

Well that was always something the nostr protocol was going to have to handle if its supposed to be a true alternative to Twitter. If the protocol can't scale to that size without a few massive relays doing all the work, then it's Bluesky with extra steps and a muuuuuuuuch shittier UX. That means it's not a serious global social network IMO, moreso one for niche communities only, just like Mastodon is looking to be.
