 @12e2f193
My husband grew up in a wealthy, well-known family and attended a private school. As a kid, he and his siblings weren't allowed to go to the west side of the town we grew up in. I lived on the west side of that divide. I also attended the only integrated school in town.
I was born to a Native American mom and a white blue-collar worker dad.
We were born in different worlds in the same town.
 @c92d4e92 that’s tremendously romantic 🥹 thank you!
 @c92d4e92 to share a little in return: my husband and I have been together since 2000. He’s a navy brat whose family came to rest in the base near Memphis, and I’m the only child of the hippie black sheep of a fairly typical white Southern family. We both grew up as well-rooted as tumbleweeds, and when we finally escaped the South in the teens, we moved all over. Our last home was seven years near Santa Cruz. I think - I *hope* - this is our last home, on the Puget Sound.
