He’s a navy brat whose family came to rest in the base near Memphis, and I’m the only child of the hippie black sheep of a fairly typical white Southern family. We both grew up as well-rooted as tumbleweeds, and when we finally escaped the South in the teens, we moved all over. Our last home was seven years near Santa Cruz. I think - I *hope* - this is our last home, on the Puget Sound.
