The professional side of me is fully focused on finance. It’s tiring, but I’m there every day.

The Nostr Lyn side of me keeps broadening her timeframe and keeps getting pulled to write a science fiction or fantasy novel, at this point, with all sorts of character arcs and cultural symbolism tied in. Which is almost too long of a time preference.

I wonder if a side hobby is what is needed to keep me focused on my main work. I used to have hobbies years ago, but the extreme environment of 2020-2022 kind of killed them as things went crazy and I did nothing but work. During 2023 and 2024 I explored if I should have hobbies again, but I kept focused on work, and here now I’ve determined that I should explore more.

I boosted my exercise, traveled the world, and re-explored video games. But the video games didn’t stick. Re-exploring my older writing is sticking.

Lately I’ve been trying to explore hobbies, to replicate a normal human. And writing weird sci fi or fantasy is what keeps me engaged.

 You write fiction?
I mean, I try. Probably not great yet. But not bad.
you should dive into your hobbies 92%
I appreciate the very specific recommendation. 92%.
I’m sure it’s better than most of the indie published books I’ve narrated. You’re into sci-fi and weird fiction, right? The Southern Reach trilogy is excellent. I think you’d like it. Very existential and mysterious. Anyways, post some fiction sometime! Many of us would love to read anything you write.
 🤙
Side hobbies are crucial to keeping fresh. The more intense and unrelated to your main profession, the better. As for side hobbies, I played tournament chess, learned unicycing/juggling, and published a book - all as side hobbies. Now my side hobby is #nostr and #cashu
 Preach it!
 That sounds giga-based.
 The only way.
 Write it!

The only thing scarcer than bitcoin is your time. And you don’t even know how scarce it truly is.

Also, you’ve given us Broken Money which has 4.7 stars out of 1,412 reviews on Amazon. If that’s not unheard of it’s got to be damn close.

You’ve done your time for Bitcoin. Now do what *you* want.

And come back to us later if you feel the need.
 Nostr Lyn 💜💎💜
 Classic movie
 Let your intuition lead you.

Do what excites you the most.
Already want to read it! And you wanna write it! How perfect 😂
I felt the same way in the middle of 2023, it was hard not thinking about the normie world, but during the last 3 months im very focused on ignore de noise , the algo, its pretty crazy out there. now i started to play Death Stranding and i feel really engaged. 👍🏻
I am glad you wrote a whole ass book about money tho.
 let's do mushrooms!
Nostr Lyn needs to break free and write the fantasy book, great writing is not when you ask yourself “what should I write” but when your bursting at the seams to say something. I really found this with my book The Great Reset https://youtu.be/Rv9IcgMJ-Wg?si=T7MaK2yuFuI4POnV
I love being out in nature and photography. So I started Wildlife photography. It's the best way for me to clear my mind.
Sounds like you're having fun with writing... what if that's the whole point and not a finished and polished novel?

But also, short stories and fantasy sci-fi zines are still a thing if you wanted to have maybe shorter goals attached to this hobby?
If you decide to write fantasy, go all in and blow Sanderson away!: I've read all his stuff and it's become more of a duty or chore now than for mere enjoyment. Stormlight is too long, with cumbersome (annoying) story arcs. Hoid is cool though. Good luck...and if you fail at fiction, I'll teach you play the banjo 🪕 😂👍
Lyn, this community needs you, your clarity and kindness. Please don't see it as a rensponsibilty, but please stay as fresh and motivated as possible. Finding a hobby unrelated to work is a way to go
Do it! Life is short and you only live once.
I have a 100-page sci-fi novel I started last year and now finance stuff is sticking. Wanna trade? 🥲
Lyn, great hobby and yes you should persevere in writing the book.
Since we live in an abundant world, we can focus our time and energy on all we really love to do.
Looking forward to read your book!

Replicate a normal human and have a hobby. If you like writing novels try it out and you will see if it sticks and works for you 🫂
I appreciate the human vulnerability of this note
 Post a short story 🙂

games were shitty in the recent years. Try older gems like portal or the witness
Yea you should thrive for atleast to one Beloved Hobby to getting you Clear again. Sometime with time it can be conbined later on.
Grounding you that way.
Dont give up but Loving and Caring for yourself is 1st principal.
Wish your effort to pay later on 💜

Personally, I think you've worked very hard to get to where you are and you deserve to give yourself time to engage in hobbies.

You'll not look back, in old age, and say "I wish I worked even more and spent less time engaging in my hobbies"
Hard work is important, but don't let it absolutely consume your life.

You are more than your work.

If you don't give yourself time to engage in activities that bring you joy, what's the point of working hard.

Work to live > live to work

It's clearly calling you. Sounds like you need to follow that call.

You're a very clear and engaging writer. I'm about a third of the way through Broken Money and can't believe how much I love it. After reading and engaging in this topic for years, I didn't think there would be so many new stories and topics that clearly lay out the technological mechanics and historical realities that result in our current systems.

I would read your sci-fi.
Do what calls you. Life is short.
That you were more "work" productive when so much of the world was tyrannically shut down is telling. That video games didn't stick is a sign of maturity (gimme my NHL94! and Tetris). When your work is an essential service and you no longer have the desire to waste time with what is derivative culture (haven't seen a truly innovative game in almost 20 years though "It Takes Two" had quite the mature storyline, at least) is a sign of growth. Writing is a brain flex. Go for it!
This is what Bitcoin does. Realigning our focus in life.
