Maybe because it openly says it believes in free speech and won’t censor anything unless it’s illegal. That’s leaps and bounds above pretty much every other legacy social media platform. It’s basically unheard of.
Only that there rules are not working equally for everyone. Popular notes to promote democrats or critizise trump have been blocked. And clear misuse by Elon Musk does not get blocked. The rules are arbitrary.
I think that tweet was copy pasted from a nostr note, but I could be mistaken. In any case, Jack still owns some X, it is his baby after all, he may have more faith in the way Elon is running it but he also said like a million times that protocols > platforms.

if you’re on social media, you’re using one of the social medias. you’re on one (out of all the social medias out there). which one would you rather be on? you’re on one right now. is it your preference to be on fb, tt, nostr, etc. don’t count on corporations to grant you rights. defend them yourself by using (supporting) one of the social medias that can be considered freedom tech. not one of the social medias that’s run by corporations or corruptible single points of failure.
In my eyes it does matter, since it makes Jack quiet incongruent with other posts. Thank you for the link. I will hopefully find time to listen to this. And maby you are right and I am setting too high expectations out of the blue. But there are things that are just inlogic no matter how much context there is. And this was one case. For this reason I asked and Jack also directly responded. With seemingly no intent to clarify. So I have to assume, he is confused. Maby will clarify this in the future.

I was reading the same thing. I am perplexed too. Am I misreading it? Never see X as freedom tech if it has community guidelines and it has the power to ban people. Especially it's business model is ads which Jack admitted (the businessmodel). My other guess is he still have 3% stocks on X (based on his conference). But I maybe wrong.
