also, how to nostr privately. many people promote nostr as a privacy protocol, but the people say nostr relays can see your ip. it's not private. they have bots that expose your ip address etc. etc. i feel these things could be addressed and made clearer, for better word of mouth

no. not at all. nostr is for everyone, even people who don’t care for bitcoin, and the ‘normies’ you’re afraid of.
Def not afraid of normies… however this space is currently dominated by people using lightning. And normies are generally not going to onboard and understand a lot of the nuance and they lack the understanding and ability connect a wallet, the concepts are new to them.
it’s not that hard of a concept to understand. i joined in february of last year with zero understanding of bitcoin in the slightest. took me one night to understand it, of course thanks to nostriches who helped out. not everyone who joins nostr needs to learn or care about lightning or bitcoin. you can use the protocol without knowing perfectly fine. maybe nostr shouldn’t just be bitcoiner dominate anyways? i guess the normies can join bluesky, and nostr growth can stay stagnant though.
How is using Nostr to demonstrate the complete lack of fucks I am giving about my haters any better than the status quo of literally zero, as I do 100 pushups every morning in an El Salvadoran retreat sans proximal technology in preparation for all oncoming shitcoiner encroachments, mud streaked cheeks, reaching the alternating unused arm to chopstick one grain of rice per guttural roar, enemies in minds eye, half open lids fixed determinedly to the distant horizon
Do I need to use Bitcoin/crypto to use Nostr? How do I find my friends? How do I reset my password? How do I make my profile private? How do I share my posts outside Nostr? Where is my information stored? How do I block spam and why is it here? If I need relays, how many do I need where do I find more?
Here's a few questions I came up (I'm not a hater, but don't push me): 1. Why can't I access every/any note ever publicly posted on the Nostr? 2. Is the "Global" feed truly global, or only all of the publicly posted notes from the relays you are connected to? 3. Why do I sometimes see replies and reactions when I log into other clients that I didn't see before? How much have I missed because of this?! 4. Why does trying different clients sometimes cause me to lose my follows and profile data? 5. How can I recover my account if I lose my private key/NSEC? 6. Why can't I reset my private key if it gets compromised or leaked? 7. Why do Nostr clients/websites ask for your private key if that can cause your data to be leaked and your account to be compromised? 8. Why does my client show that I have 1 follower when other apps show I have hundreds? 9. Why can't I edit or delete my notes? 10. Will connecting to a lot of relays slow down my Nostr client and experience? 11. Is it even possible for something to "go viral" on Nostr? 12. Is some of my data getting lost as relays shut down or purge older notes? #asknostr
Learn a little more about how it works. These questions reveal that you don’t understand it..like, at all.
Hate is fine, but you can’t hate something if you don’t understand it. You just hate some idea that you create in your head, which is pathetic :(
Ridicule and insults are one way to respond. I've been on Nostr over a year and love it, actually, and have some understanding of it, though I'm not a developer and could be called a "normie". I was just trying to give some possible constructive feedback in answer to the question.
sorry man i took the initial post to be asking for questions from people who were haters, not people who didn't understand the protocol or cryptography🤦♂️ now that the faq page is out, those were great additions🤝 glad you don't actually have those questions 🤣 "not a hater but don't push me" doesn't sound like "i love it" lol

As a very new adopter, I’m curious if our notes / comments are being seen? I’m nobody special so certainly don’t expect viral engagement. But how do new adopters distinguish themselves from spam bots( either mentally or protocolwise)? WoT is good, it helps me see who is more established and reputable vs scammers. But how does a someone new to the network build trust ?
