no. not at all. nostr is for everyone, even people who don’t care for bitcoin, and the ‘normies’ you’re afraid of.
Def not afraid of normies… however this space is currently dominated by people using lightning. And normies are generally not going to onboard and understand a lot of the nuance and they lack the understanding and ability connect a wallet, the concepts are new to them.
it’s not that hard of a concept to understand. i joined in february of last year with zero understanding of bitcoin in the slightest. took me one night to understand it, of course thanks to nostriches who helped out. not everyone who joins nostr needs to learn or care about lightning or bitcoin. you can use the protocol without knowing perfectly fine. maybe nostr shouldn’t just be bitcoiner dominate anyways? i guess the normies can join bluesky, and nostr growth can stay stagnant though.
