Is .40 S&W even good for anything
 Removing earwax?
Fuck, all I know is that most people who shoot 40 S&W or 10mm that I've heard of are usually police and feds. Except Paul, of course.
@Nova :confederateflag: @7d563414 I've got a .40. It was a gift from a family member who didn't want it anymore.

I like it. The recoil could be better, but the gun itself is pretty comfy (old old XD). I still prefer the recoil on my 1911, though.
I started on a 40 and would still shoot it more if it was the same price as 9mm. I prefer it so much over 9, 66% more energy and not that much recoil. The size and cap is a slight issue for carry but if I was asleep and heard someone break in and there was a 9mm and a 40 on the nightstand I would pick the 40 every single time.
No. It is a shortened 10mm because 10mm is too much for manlets, but when they gimped the loading they realized they could just shorten the case to fit standard handguns. Thus you have marginally more power than 9mm while sacrificing 2 rounds, and significantly more wear due to higher pressures. All at a higher per-round premium.

I'm a little surprised that Paul doesn't talk about the original loading for 10mm, but he prefers common ammunition for testing (as a practical matter) so that could be part of it. Original pushes a 200gr bullet while remaining supersonic out to 50yds with a 5in barrel. That's ~1150-60fps at 50yds, and should be the standard since it was the original load.
I thought it was mainly because of the cops having a spaghetti falling out of their pockets moment from the Miami Dade shootout in the 80s.
