People's purpose in life, differs wildly, from person to person. There is a huge percentile of people who will probably never be able to afford to retire. Another decent size chunk, will not be able to do so till there "Official" retirement age, rapidly heading towards 70. 

Not having to work, early retirement, is a goal for many, me included, so the earlier I can do that, the better. I'd much rather be travelling the world and seeing the bits I've not already managed to. If I get bored, I might start a little business, who knows. It's all about having that freedom of choice.

 thank you! there is no final state. its a constantly evolving thing but for now i am fortunate to be able to do exactly what i want. 🫶 

 I suppose retirement means different to the individual. In my case, it is to no longer have an obligation to make a living and still live a purposeful and fulfilled life on my time. Nothing else is renting my life for the purpose of making a living.

 I think you're right about the word retirement, because it kind of means you don't do anything, as you no longer "Work for a living", if I do "Retire" next year, if anybody asks me what I do, I'll just say I'm an "Asset Manager". Which would also be kind of true😬.
