Here we have a Denver Steak cooked with a hard sear but left rare, combined with celery, carrot and asparagus.  All were fried with tallow then butter finished.  Steak is laid down on a bit of Calibrian Chili oil.  All in 15 minutes max to do this.  

You have time you just spend it poorly.

 It's not like there was a long-running cooking show called "30 minute meals" that might give one the idea that a full meal could be prepared with reasonable time input 
 Had an extra brisket laying around and tried your short rub idea. Made a Garlic Honey Ginger soy sauce to braise it in and it turned out fantastic. Thanks for the idea.
