Buying a Bitaxe miner because you saw that someone mined a block with one is akin to buying a single lottery ticket because you saw that someone bought one and won. Anything is possible and learning about mining is fun, but odds are yours will never mine a block in your lifetime 😂 https://media.tenor.com/VKU7xwwZJ_EAAAAC/dumb-and-dumber-lloyd.gif
Turn it onto testnet4, for sure you'll win some blocks 🙏🫂
exchange lists bitcoin testnet 4 in 3... 2... 1...
it’s already happening
if a testnet isn't reset like once a month is it really a testnet?
This is an opportunity to BITAXE dealers on AliExpress to clear their inventory the F out. And if it gets people onboard and understanding how mining works, I’m all for it. Adoption is adoption ✔️
Just understand your odds and what you’re buying. For education, for fun, or for playing the mining lotto, it’s a great device.
I think so too… it’s a great first step before any kind of scale up. Bewildered someone actually solved a block w/one. Odds are actually much higher than the lottery, methinks 🤯
At current global hashrate a single Bitaxe would represent about a1 in a billion chance every block. Pretty slim chances 😅 Incredible that this person got a block, and according to the ckpool admin they had only been mining on that address a couple of weeks 🤣 https://m.primal.net/JeDR.jpg
Even so, it helps decentralise the network
Hardly. One Bitaxe represents about 1/1,000,000,000 (one one-billionth) of current global hashrate. Good for learning or playing the solo mining lotto, though.
I guess a similar thing can be said about relays.. :) With relays the model is even more different: only 1 relay needs to be censorship free so the network is censorship free. If the probability of 1 relay censoring is 10%, then 2 is 1%, 3 is 0.1%, and 10 is 0.00000001%.
Meh I did it just because the guy winning a block reminded me that I have flat rate electricity at my apartment 😂
LFG 🚀😂
do they pool mine like Brains?
You could point it to a pool like Braiins but in this case the miner was using ckpool, which isn’t a pool in the same sense. It’s a service that lets you mine solo. With a traditional pool like Braiins you get paid out a proportion based on the hashrate you contributed when anyone in the pool mines a block. If your miner hits a block while using ckpool, then you get 98% of the payout and the other 2% goes to ckpool to support their service, but if someone else’s machine mines the block, then you get nothing. https://solo.ckpool.org
Great meme minds Corndo. 😂👊
