"The web has been taken."
This is true. But it wasn't taken by servers. It was taken by 'smart' phones.
Phones that take all our attention. Phones that don't allow open development. Phones that watch us, try to sell us out, and dumb down our practical skills.
Servers are open. The network is still mostly open. Servers have no restrictions, don't have engineered obsolescence, don't have batteries that pollute the landfills. Servers don't have to beg an app store for anything they run.
Show me a phone that can be a server and do anything practical at all by itself.
Show me a phone, that does what servers do, so that it can be the last phone I'll ever need.
ShOW ME THE PHONES
I'm waiting...
Till then, I do recommend learning servers and networking.. the AI will never obsolete this skillet.
