Wow! Never would have thought that we would not have a democratic process on Nostr. I find it amusing that a few elitists get to decide where the next unconference is even though the overwhelming support was for Australia. Why even bother asking if you were going to ignore us anyways! @mcshane @ODELL
Could we honestly attract anyone with how our government is acting? Coming to a country with a rabid E saftey commissioner and gathering all the freedom technology development teams together maybe isn't the best idea
And Brazil is much better.
Wow 😆 I didn't know that was the option. It appears our steaming pile of shit has less flies 😳 With the recent telegram jailing, I'd be considering these options more
It actually wasn’t a debate about government but I took issue with the fact that there was overwhelming support for Australia and a few elites want South America so they are ignoring what Nostriches wanted.
Dont think theres anything stopping you from doing your own Australian unconfrence anytime you want. Be the change you want in the world. Nobody is stopping you but you.
Once again my issue is why ask if you won’t listen to the answers. I have no issue if they said Hey we are going to have it in Argentina. My issue is they asked on stage where we wanted it and had a thread in the GitHub.
I'm just saying if you are unhappy with the results of what occurred or transpired then it is ultimately up to you to change it and make it to where you can be satisfied
Thank you.
I think you’ll find the “few elites” get to decide because they’re the ones planning the event using money that Jack donates to fund it - why should there be “democracy” involved in that? Democracy could just as easily have Boaty McBoatfaced the process and suggested the next one be held in Gaza
Then why ask where we wanted it then?
I'm still up for trying to build out Nostralia.com.au as originally planned if no else wants to help support #AUStriches @Marie @CyberplantaHODL @chef4₿rains etc
Both @rabble and @Mike Dilger said they would attend a conference in Aus. Maybe we could even convince @jack
Block did just open a Sydney office there.

They’ve asked every year and every year it’s already been essentially pre-determined. If someone/group had put their hand up to do all the work they might have been listened to but just asking for it to be in your locale isn’t enough
Did not realize that and interesting. Not my locale btw.
I think they are rotating around the globe -- Americas, Asia/Oceania, Europe, now it's America's turn again.
Possibly.
Where in the US?
Pffffft!
Why would you never think that we would not have a democratic process on Nostr? What gave you the impression that we would? Have we ever?
You can totally start your own conference. THIS IS NOSTR! nostr:nevent1qqsgqvnyy2qj0d5qd3zpkqyya5gzds4rcaan9xst5v8frch8007djpqpz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduhsygxf92teqdkvh0nzwdk7s0kfyk879lzkpr6a2xepskljvyfpq5379qpsgqqqqqqs54ru7q
Free market... If the people putting on the event decide to host it somewhere and it has a shitty turnout, they will have to adjust to what the market wants in the future or fail. Simple solution if you don't like the decision is to not attend.
lol STFU... complaining about a free unconference
tons of factors go into making one of these things happen. you sound like a childish commie right now.
So I am childish commie because I want a democratic process to pick the next location?
is this picking a president or capital allocators deciding hows the best way to deploy ? you dont have any say in 'the process' imo
Then why ask then?
perfectly reasonable to gauge the community and factor into their decision
