Love your engineering background, is actually very close to what I currently do, technology has improved a lot and open platforms like X-Plane are making it much easier to build all kids of simulators with many software and hardware plugins and accessories. I think in the engineering design having a simulator you can bring your controller logic and test early in the development is super beneficial instead of waiting for the suppliers to bring components together at the system labs or iron bird rigs.
We used X Plane and Microsoft Slight Sim sometimes, and plugins, in addition to high-end Rockwell stuff which was orders of magnitude more expensive. It was fun seeing the evolution of these various products over a decade.
It's weird it's like she desperately wants to "hang out with the guys" and wants to show them that she's totally "one of them" with some guy story. nostr:nevent1qqszrzmu39u0f6k67e0swczua6zxptysalffzzgzy5zylymulcy84mgpzamhxue69uhhyetvv9ujumn0wd68ytnzv9hxgtczyr4tpe6k6v4cp0x5vneas39cqspsxp66z04tcdve5a3vntr6hy057qcyqqqqqqg0vyj9j
Why do you call that a guy story? It’s about flight simulators. Sounds kind of sexist.
Flight sim users are 97% male, and most of the rest refuse to give a a straight answer https://download.navigraph.com/docs/flightsim-community-survey-by-navigraph-2021-final.pdf

Yeah it couldn’t actually be that I worked on aircraft simulators for 12 years and eventually ran the facility. Talking about anything during that long period of my life is “desperately wanting to hang out with the guys” lol.
This story is about some place far away some time long ago that I couldn't care less about and I don't see why anyone here else would. There isn't a current event or something someone said that prompted it. The ostensible link to "current events in Brazil" seems too far fetched. It seemingly comes out of nowhere just like a couple other similar stories on nostr:nprofile1qqsw4v882mfjhq9u63j08kzyhqzqxqc8tgf740p4nxnk9jdv02u37ncpz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9uju6mpd4czuumfw3jsz9nhwden5te0wfjkccte9ec8y6tdv9kzumn9wsq3yamnwvaz7tmsw4e8qmr9wpskwtn9wvql3tqm's feed. It's like a horse walking into the room while I'm sitting at my desk in the office. I'd be like well where did that come from now. Why tell the story here and now, what's the intent. The guys whose recognition she's possibly seeking are the guys on nostr, here and now.
Yes it is insane how those companies charge for real aircraft boxes, broken money incentives makes them so large and inefficient that prevents them from being agile. I worked for Collins aerospace supporting the global 6000 business jet and was insane how much we were charging, even for software updates. Those systems labs are still required but I’m very excited with the development simulators early in the design, combined with AI able to understand SDK to make plugins and interface with engineering models on tools such as matlab. Thanks for writing this content, good to geek out on engineering simulation stuff!
