I don't have any evidence that this works, but I think you might be able to get your phone number removed from spam bots by answering and immediately muting yourself. The bots are programmed to start their routine when they hear a "hello" or any significant sound on the receiving end. If you make no noise to initiate the conversation, they almost always hang up in about 6 to 8 seconds. I imagine that this sort of failure is logged on their end as a phone number to not call again, because what kind of human would answer the phone and not make a sound? Well, me š
Think of the alternative signals you can send:
- don't answer and they will just try again later
- send them to voicemail while ringing will indicate you are a human but you don't want to talk right now, so they will try again later
- answer and say hello - now they know for sure you're a human and they will keep bothering you
But answer and make no noise and they system will probably think you're a bot or some unreachable line. I feel like I've gotten less spam calls since I started doing this. Like I said, this is just my personal theory, but it's crazy enough to work š
Its cheaper to make no logical decision based on this and just always dial again. You can complete a sale or scam if you dont try.
You might be right, but actually I am tying up a line that they need to run their scam, so numbers that do not initiate a conversation does have a cost in terms of efficiency.
The fact that they are programmed to hang up after 8 seconds of silence indicates to me that they are trying to be efficient with their resources. Why would they call that inactive number again when they hung up on it to begin with? That's all I'm saying.
I need to figure out a way to get them to stop texting me weekly about a property I don't down in Virginia Beach. It's been like this for 8 years and I'm still not selling it š¤£
oh ive had this issue. after awhile i would just start making wild monetary requests to the upside and down, attempt to setup appointments to show the property, and even direct calls from one agent to another.
something of the above worked because i stopped getting hassled about that property a few years ago.
Two years ago I would respond that I'd sell if they would take bitcoin š¤£ I had one respond and tell me Bitcoin was a scam... š I don't see them any longer though because Google spam detection automatically sends them to spam now
Find the address of that property and send out invites to a party at that address
Iām in Virginia Beach wya?
I've done this a few times and seems to help.
I like to answer and play fax machine sounds or scream for help.
Lol screaming for help sounds very fun thank you
The best defence is simply not to have a phone number
