 I’ve been told by a French native not to speak French because my accent is horrible. That native’s English is pathetic, but I don’t tell that native not to speak English. WTF?

I have direct experience. Two of my friends both studied French in University. One even then continued afterwards. So both having pretty good French by any standard.
Yet, getting to first bakery shop the baker will correct them immediately for tiny issues with the accent. 😂😂😂
