find it crazy that people can function with less than 10 hours of sleep feel drowsy and spaced out with just 8 hours
8 hours is luxury 🥲

Sometimes
working or just family time?
I just stay up late and have to wake up at the same time every day. Weekend in theory is when I can sleep in, but then kids wake up even earlier.
I kinda feel you on that, I feel my brain's creativity turn up a notch past 10-11 PM, creative tasks become really easy and ideas start flowing out it's also why most of me yapping about ideas regarding nostr has been past midnight
I wish I could go to sleep around 10 or 11 but there’s too much to do after kids fall asleep. I do rest a lot in between. It’s probably the only reason I’m alive right now.
yeah, chores really take up a bunch of time and suddenly it's past midnight you take regular breaks with your remote work or just based off of feel? curious how you avoid burning out whilst obsessed with a project
Not regular but whenever I feel like I need one. I optimize for most productive stretches of time. Design is part grind and part creative. You can force the grind but you can’t force creative. Ideas come at random times too and you sometimes do most of the work in your mind right after waking up or doing some totally random thing. I guess it helps to enjoy your work or else id be burned out more. It’s nice being able to say that I have fun working so it never feels like work.
It does feel like a really privileged and fortunate position to be in, and it's really inspiring too Reading random things and just experiencing life gives a lot of ideas, so it's nice to have a notepad at hand 🤗
I used to actually hate design work. I thought it wasn’t for me. But then I realized I was just working on the wrong things that I didn’t care about. Having a guiding principle in life towards some great long term goal made me realize I like design work as long as it’s for something I care about. Right now those things are bitcoin and nostr so work feels like play. Plus, great people motivate you to be better. When everyone is at the top of their game you’d hate to disappoint them. I think about this often and it’s probably a strong motivator.
It's possible you are oversleeping at 8
huh i've been trying to work out when's the best for me to go to bed and how much to sleep any guidance?
Try different amounts until you find what's right for you 10 is very likely to be wrong Sometimes less is more Do not look at any screens 1 hr before sleep
If you feel drowsy with 8 hours, try 7, not 9. If you're super sensitive, you can even try to fine-tune it, like 7.5 hours. But it sounds unlikely that you feel well sleeping 9, 10 hours regularly (barring some sort of condition).
More than 7.5h makes me super sleepy all day. 6-7hrs is optimal for me it seems.
Do you have a good cyrcadian rhythm?
uhmm any quizzes or tests for that to check?
Wake up with the sun, go outside before 9am so the body can get some red light in the morning and after 4-5PM so that it can wind down. Try to minimize blue light exposure (screens, phone) after sunset since blue light is only usually present in sunlight around 12PM. Your body thinks it’s day again.
wait you have sun? been cloudy and rainy here the whole day 😆 i mostly get sunlight when i am walking to or from classes, but that's mostly it https://image.nostr.build/fef7b42ff60ba2ca1cda94292a82da61ace0ee4c90dd86eb1170ecc0d317bb65.jpg
LOL yeah winter is miserable 😩 especially up north. Definitely not the best time to adjust circadian rhythm. Classroom setups are also not friendly to the body. It’s all blue light all the time. I was always, always tired in school. Bet our circadian rhythm was out of wack.
Would you wake up at around the same time without an alarm or a loud mom?
uhhhh, good question i usually wake up with an alarm during the weekdays but the times i go to bed are really random, so i am trying to be more consistent with that
It should help a lot.
7 is my magic number. Maybe you're sleeping too much? Or maybe it's a diet thing? Or maybe you're still building your brain? That requires a lot of sleep. 😊
Eat properly and workout
when i can finally have the time to work full-time, i'd love to noodles and sandwiches until then
Wdym by “have the time to work full time”?
bachelor degree's schedule takes up most of the time of the timespan of a 9-5
Ah gotcha. I just graduated in May. gl bro 🤙
I'm constantly running on around 5-6.......coffee helps.
It's individual. You gotta sleep what your body ask. Setting alarm to wake up is fiat torture
