Fun! I will share my story later today 🤙
My Bitcoin journey began in late 2021 after coming across a few intelligent Twitter accounts. I had been interested a few years earlier but never bought any and never understood the technology. When I came across some important tweets from Mike Alfred, Dennis Porter, Peter McCormack and Saifedean which spelled out why everybody should own Bitcoin I began to dig deeper. I came across additional educational literature regarding how Bitcoin works and what problems it solves. I began purchasing some Bitcoin from Coinbase and Cash App. The more I read, the more interested I became and the more my focus switched from investment opportunities to philosophical and freedom reasons. I began to learn about self-custody and purchased my first cold-storage wallet by the end of 2022. I typically bought some Bitcoin with every paycheck and even spent a decent share of my dollar savings to purchase Bitcoin. This year, I have continued to buy but at a little slower pace as I decided everything I bought in Bitcoin was never going to be touched (at least for the immediate future). I learned more about DCA and have slowly increased my stack.

My biggest regrets in Bitcoin are: 1. Not investing sooner. 2. Not understanding UTXO management at the beginning. 3. Not committing to obtaining Bitcoin in a non-KYC fashion.

I just purchased a Coldcard MK4 and I'm looking forward to moving my current funds from a less secure hardware wallet. Going forward, I will be buying additional wallets to split my Bitcoin between as well as using Conjoin and consolidating my small UTXOs.
 Love this.

Thanks for sharing.

Incredible to hear how many routes it took to get us all here
My journey and introduction to #Bitcoin began in 2013, a couple years after Poker’s Black Friday event in which I had a $3k bankroll and a $500 a month average profit snatched from me by the US Govt. I eventually found out that I could use Bitcoin to deposit and withdraw funds on one of the remaining online poker sites. I started using Coinbase to get my money from A to B, but I didn’t understand anything about Bitcoin other than that.

Fast forward to 2021, and I hear Bitcoin is at $60k. I was dabbling with stocks and shiny rocks at the time and was looking for investment opportunities. Once Bitcoin dropped to $30k in late 2022, I started investing a little. Then I started studying on Saylor Academy online, and the seed that was planted in 2013 came to fruition and it finally clicked!

In 2023, I started buying steadily ramping up my intensity through the year. I liquidated my stocks and shiny rocks and went 100% Bitcoin. In 2023, I learned how to self custody, joined #Nostr, and continued to absorb any and all info I could find.

The original hook was obviously number go up. And, now I’m to the death with #Bitcoin.

My biggest mistake was not digging deeper in 2013. I caught a big downswing and it spooked me. At the time, all I was thinking about was poker and didn’t realize Bitcoin was the score.

I’d say I learned the most from Saylor Academy, but it’s been a mix of everything from audio books, podcasts, blogs, vlogs, memes, and shit posts on #Nostr that molded my understanding of Bitcoin and solidified my conviction to becoming a maximalist.

I currently use the @strike app to purchase my Satoshis. Once I collect a few hundred thousand sats or so, I move them to cold storage. Strike is the cheapest and easiest way I’ve found to build my stack, plus it works great for #zaps!

I currently feel extremely positive about the future thanks to #Bitcoin, and I’m super pumped for the ‘24 bull run! LFG 🚀
 Great post here.

I didn’t realize so many people were using bitcoin to gamble with.

In Canada our gambling proceeds are tax-free. So this wasn’t an issue here.

Thanks for sharing! 🍻
 🤙
Nobody knew. The important thing is that the scales fell away from your eyes and now you know. There’s no unthinking the thoughts you have. Good luck!
Thanks 🙏 I am very grateful
It started too late, mainly bc I was always told to read the white paper which made me fall asleep due to my Fiat job. The hook: a seed phrase with some sats on it as a birthday present. Mistakes: none besides buying not enough! 😂 Learning: Antonopoulus and others. Storage: BitBox. Cheers & all the best for 2024! 🍀
10 years ago, I calculated how much money I would need when I started to retire and I realised that I would need to double my current income to have a good pension. Since then I started to invest, and in 2017 we talked about bitcoin for the first time. But for me it was a scam. I was the guy who talked against bitcoin when someone asked me. In 2020, during a lockdown. I started investing in btc and some shitcoins when the bull run started. A few weeks later my portfolio increased and I was pumping more and more money into some kryptos because of Fomo. Thankfully I asked myself "do you know what you are investing in?", then I started to learn and fell into a deep rabbit hole. Since then, almost all my shitcoins are gone, I call myself a bitcoin maximalist and try to Orange Pill all my friends.

My journey began in December 2021 when I bought my first Bitcoin. I was interested in the things for what is was created, because of I was seeing what the fiat money is causing in the world and steels our energy. Since then it is an ongoing learning process where it feels I am still a beginner. Love to talk about #Bitcoin with other people that are experienced and new people,.also to help them with stuff they do not know and educate them.
For me the privacy part is important and am interested in p2p buying and selling ,whirlpool and self-custody.
Discovered Nostr a few months ago and it a whole new world to discover and lots of bitcoiners on here 😊.

Do not know what you mean by what is the hook 🙈.

I hold my Bitcoin through a ledger, but bought a coldcard and will send everything over when there are normal fees again.

But what is your story about Bitcoin?

 Cheers brother.

Happy you made the switch from Ledger to Coldcard.

Glad to have you on the journey 👊🏼
Me toont, and what are you using?
 I’m coldcard as well. 🥶

No second best.
 Haha good to read 😄🙏
Could not remember all the questions so another one.

My biggest mistake was to sell some Bitcoin to buy it back cheaper and it only went up after that. Also that I did not buy more when it was at $16.000.

A guy at a organic store where I do my shopping taught me the most, every week I hold him of his work when we talk about half an hour to an hour about Bitcoin 🤣.
But there is a Dutch podcast where I listen to every week also helps me and lots of sites and people here on Nostr. To many to write it down here. 🙏
