 gm, making good progress on the orangething which needs proof of work. 🌤️ 

I fvcked up some of the cut lengths because I am a #newbie. 
+ the materials are kinda weird, 
so I will need to improvise with what I have
and maybe fvck up some more stuff 😅  
 gm, made some good progress so far. 

I finished cutting the main pieces of wood. So now I can put everything together to form a really rough & ugly looking rectangular box with compartments.

Problem is that I need take out the crappy filler material inside of the wood walls and add in some extra wood for the edges that will keep the structure strong. 

Then I need to fill the walls with possibly fibreglass insulation to make it more soundproof.

For example, imagine a sandwich, the filling is the fibreglass, the bread is the wood I just cut, and I need to add in some more wood for the edges to seal of the sandwich (wall).

Before I do what I said in the last post, I still need to cut out the vent holes in the sheets of wood I recently cut to size.

I spent sometime thinking how to do that and the best thing I could come up with is to do the following.

1) Draw on the wood to highlighting what size hole needs to be cut (going to be a square hole because I think a circle hole on a rectangle box would look weird???)
2) Drill a small hole in the centre. I might just stab it with a knife if I can't get my hands on a small drilling machine.
3) Use a jigsaw (has a small thin blade which goes up and down) stick it through the small hole that was made and cut the square hole to the right size.
4) Sand down the inner edges to make it nice square and smooth.

Never used a drill machine or a jigsaw so this should be fun 😅  

Also, the UK has horrible weather this week non stop rain 🌧️

 Progress update ✅ 

I got my hands on a small drilling machine and made a hole in the middle.

Then put the Jigsaw blade through the hole and cut the vent hole out for the walls.

You can see how bent my cut is 🤣 and it's the same for all the other cuts. I tried to sand it down after so it was more straight. 😃 

I cut a few circle holes out for the inner walls and these were much easier to cut to the right shape with a jigsaw machine. (surprised me)

I cut out 6 vent holes in total. 4 on the outer walls and 2 for the inner walls.

Next I will need to make the structural frames for the walls and fill it with soundproof/fireproof materials.

 Fvcked up some more wood!

I recently cut some wood to make the inner wall frames. These frames were then joined together using a drill machine and some screws. I spent forever trying to make nice square/rectangle frames but they ended up being bent... sooo, I got my hands on a staple gun which made life so much easier. 

Just set the wood on the floor, make the loose frame and staple it together. Once the frame it lightly joined with the staples, THEN drill the holes in and put the screw in. The visible portion of the hole it needs to be bigger so the screw head levels off with the wood, this way it is smooth to touch and not lumpy. 

Each frame had 4 screws going in the sides to keep it nice and solid.

 I forgot that I needed to make the smaller frames to close off the gap near the vent holes otherwise we would have insulation material flying out! 

So I ended up making them the next day 😃 

These small rectangular pieces took forever to cut because I had to do it with a HAND saw. 😭  I had to do it this way because they were too small to cut with my other handheld machines (16 pieces total, 4 for each vent on the visible walls).

These small pieces were attached to the thin wooden wall with a staple gun.

 Next, I glued one sheet of the wooden panel to the wooden frame and compressed it with some weights. I let it set for a few hours then stapled gunned it together. I then added some weight to compress it again and let the glue settle for around 24 hours before moving anything.

 Next, I picked up some RockWool soundproofing insulation material, cut it to size and filled the wall cavity. (best to do this outside, wear a mask, goggles and keep your skin covered) 😷 

I then glued the frame and sealed it shut with another thin wooden panel (😋 LIKE A TASTY SANDWICH 😋).🤣 

Right after gluing it shut, I staple gunned it, then added weight to compress it slightly. 

Then waited around 24 hours for the glue to dry and spent another few hours sanding down the edges so everything is nice and straight.

Now I have x2 long walls done, x2 short walls done which can form a large rectangle box ✅

 I forgot to make the external vent frames for the long walls and realised the next day. 😅 

The following day, I made the frames. Without this, we would have insulation material flying out and we don't want that! 😷 

I cut these frames out with a handheld jigsaw machine which was quick to do.

After the frames down were stuck down, I filled the wall cavity with soundproofing material and sealed it with the other sheet of wood (like a sandwich).

You are now safe from the insulation fibres flying out of the wall. 😄

 Now the two short walls are done and the two long walls are done. ✅ 

I sanded down all four sides of each wall so they were nice and smooth. 

I then joined the four walls together temporarily with a staple gun and some tape so that they were lined up and ready for more permanent joining methods. 

I drilled a hole through each of the four joints of the structure so I could join it all together with a long screw (two screws for each joint). Now that the screws are in place, I removed the tape and staples. Next, I undone the screws slightly so I could slip in some glue in all four of the joints and then re-tightened the screws so all four walls would be permanently stuck together.

It took some time to get this right to ensure a perfect or near perfect rectangle is made and everything is level. 💪

 Next up was to make a strong base to support the weight of the miner and the structure that sits above.  

I cut 3 long pieces of wood for the length, 2 pieces for the outer width, and 4 smaller pieces for the inner bit. I kept Fvking up the sizes so I spent a silly amount of time to sand everything down to the right size so it fits together properly. 😠💢  

Now that the wood pieces are the right size, I shaped the outer portion first, glued and stapled it together, Then worked on the middle pieces of wood and did the same. I waiting a few hours for the glue to dry up enough so I could start drilling some holes through each joint. 10 screws around the edges and then 4 screws in the middle pieces. I had to drill diagonally for the middle pieces which was tricky. I put some glue on the screws here and fitted them in, you know, so it's extra secure. 😆 

Then I glued the frame to a sheet of wood, waited a few hours for to dry then filled the cavity with soundproofing material (Rockwool). Soon after, I put some glue on frame and then sealed it off with another large sheet of wood.

✅ Base structure, DONE ✅ 😌

 It looked like the side walls were slightly uneven so I spent some time using a spirit level tool to check each section of the walls. Any high bits were sanded down to make sure the walls were level with each other before attaching the base/bottom structure that I made in the last post. 

Now that the walls were nice and even, I flipped the walls upside down so I could attach the base structure to it. 

I lined up the bottom of the structure to the four walls and used tape to temporarily attach it together. Next, I drilled a bunch of holes through the bottom of the base and through the walls. 3 for each long wall and 2 for each short wall (10 screws total). I put the screws in and removed the tape. I then removed the screws and separated the base from the walls and added the glue to permanently join the two pieces together. I put the screws back in and left it to dry. It looked quite good with only a few small edges sticking out (easy to sand down).

 To recap, the base structure and outer walls are now joined. It looks like a big rectangle box with vent holes on the side.

Made some rookie mistakes here and decided not to use the planer and I resorted to using a simple sanding machine to level everything down. This is minor damage and won't be seen anyway as it is an internal wall within the completed unit. Lesson learned and it was not too expensive. 😌 

Now the outside of the structure is nice and level and ready for the finishing work. But first, I need to make and fit in the two internal walls.
