 @420f26f4 I've always wanted to be happy in a fairly ordinary way. Even my fantasies about power are just a way to enable that. LOL.

But I grew up with abusive family, including a brother who insisted he had to be the Chosen One for life to have any meaning, and I learned early on what kind of damage that does to them and the people around them.
 @f0b4120c My teen years were filled with bad poetry about how I was "not like the others" and the like. Meant for grand destiny. Because I felt powerless to be who I really wanted to be.

My comic book heroes (stories for the powerless) weren't Spider-Man and Batman, they were Dr. Doom and Lex Luthor.

Good god I was insufferable. I think I recognize your brother.

P.S.- In comic book terms, The exception was the X-Men, all along whispering in my ear what I really needed, which was acceptance and community. 🤷‍♀️
 @420f26f4 @f0b4120c Hehe, I did the bad poetry thing!
 @bd9ab405 @f0b4120c

Of course you did.
