@Vitor Pamplona having a hard time shorting this. What's your suggestion here? https://image.nostr.build/a2bc0ff4f18ff909236920b8e7caf75b4ee001173af650d06252a903ebb3d4db.png
Choose three for each you trust outbox: where your notes are sent to for others to read from inbox: where others send replies, zaps, likes for your client to read them
Three is the problem. Those are all very good relays
Why do you want to shorten it?
Every relay forces your follows to connect to another relay to get all of your content. The more you add the more duplicates you and your follows download. And the more you add, the more they need to connect to find all of your posts.
For the reasons given by Vitor
On the inbox side, if you keep relays that restrict who can post, like the wot ones, you will only get notifications from people they allow.
ok that makes sense. So you would you say that having more popular relays there rather than more restricted/private/paid ones is actually a better choice? I'm thinking damus, nostr.band, snort (for example).
No need to be large relays on inbox. They just need to be open for people to post otherwise you are not going to receive it. You can either pay for them to post or use a free relay.
Outbox is different. You only need three otherwise other clients have to pull from all the relays for the same note. You can set general relays to simply read from to get more content. The inbox and outbox are to simplify which relays clients need to push/pull from. In Amethyst for example I set a few relays in outbox and inbox then added like 7 more in general but only have them set to read.
makes sense. thanks for taking the time.
Updated noStrudel for now and will see how that goes then update Amethyst later. Thanks for your suggestions
