Man, you libertarians are so funny with your “do not bend the knee” ethos when, in the face of POTENTIAL retaliation from Trump, Bezos “obeys in advance.” People are right to be upset when national newspapers decline to endorse because they are afraid of the consequences, especially when Bezos explicitly promised to never interfere with the WaPo.
Trump didn't retaliate in 2016. Why would he now? The Trump scare is such hyperbole. And I can't even stand him, but I'm cognizant enough to recognize the lunacy behind such bombastic claims.
Come on, man. Trump has been openly calling for vengeance and retribution at every opportunity. He's already assembled a team of people responsible for making a list of people to go after if he wins. This isn't 2016, and if he wins he will have absolutely no guardrails or people to stand in his way. His entire life is filled with examples of revenge, and an obsession with seeking vengeance on his opponents. If he wins, retribution against his perceived enemies will be at the top of his agenda.
I hope you're wrong for the country's sake lol and I agree he's petty. But I don't think despite being an asshole, he's gonna be the boogieman Hitler archetype all the fearmongering media is making him out to be.
I hope I'm wrong, too. But I grew up in NY in the 80s and 90s, and I know who this man is. There's a reason why NY votes overwhelmingly against him. The Hitler thing is overblown, but there's no question he has fascist tendencies. And this has nothing to do with who I support. His statements and actions are textbook fascism, as are his stated desires related to his governing. This is an objective fact. Last time around, he didn't know anything and he had people around him who pushed back against his worst instincts. That's not the case this time. He's put together a team of sycophantic loyalists who share his authoritarian desires, and will facilitate his agenda with no regard for the constitution. They seek the end of the republic, and the imposition of an authoritarian state influenced by Christian Nationalism. Given his age, he also has nothing to lose. I believe he will be the absolute worst version of himself, and the country will pay a terrible price for it.
WTF is communist/fascist? Those are mutually exclusive terms. One is far-left and the other is far-right. Conflating the two is nonsensical. There's no such thing as a communist/fascist.
