@db6d888b @30ce86c6 Rubella infection during the first half of pregnancy was a major cause of congenital deafness & blindness before we controlled Rubella with infant vaccination. The earlier program of vaccinating teenage girls did not work very well because it left rubella circulating in the community. It also allowed men to suffer infertility caused by rubella.
