EU considering shutting down twitter in Europe.
This is not people being locked out of a free speech platform, it's people being locked out of Musks coercive agenda propoganda machine, and learning tools exist that transcend private interest and heavy hand of state.

yes i have very mixed feelings about it, one one hand i definitely don't support internet censorship, on the other they are right that twitter has become an incredibly vile platform with Musk
Very true, but still don’t want the EU to block it 🥹
Yeah, sucks when we're reminded we are not as free as we thought. A better Internet is possible though 👍
Let the free market decide. No state or government should have anything to say on what social platform or protocol any person can or cannot use.
 They are afraid!
I am not interested in Deadbird anymore but the EU DSA is a digital censorship nightmare and some of the big techs stepping up and resisting (even if its just pretense) does make people aware of the issue.
It does have a lot of propaganda yes, and the agenda is quite clear.

But it is far from coercive.

Nobody is mandated to look at the feed or even use the app. They have the choice to switch to the chronological feed. Or delete the app and deactivate their account.
Well unless all algos are open sourced and transparent (may happen soon) then how do you know your feed isn't coercive.

And as for nobody being mandated to look at the feed. Well yeah. But following that logic we don't really need to use cars right.
The platform is Musk's property. Not mine. He bought it with his own money. He is free to do with it what he wants. He is not forcing me to use it, and neither am I going to call for forcing him to do what I like.

Yes, by that logic, it applies to cars. I can only buy a car if someone willingly sells it to me. I can't and won't force someone to do so.
Sure, but as we saw with Arab spring. Social media is very powerful, can get people elected, start revolutions, etc. The very fact there is a raised eyebrow over the algo and Musks intent, means alternatives not potentially captured must be used.
 I'm with you on that
Well he sourced the money… it’s not his.
 He controls the company
True, I just think it’s worth noting other capital is involved. Musk is the poster boy but I’m sure his investors have some strong opinions too.
 Sure.

It's still their money and capital. Which they used to buy Twitter.

I am not going to tell them what to do with it. And neither can they force me to use it.
Indeed. I don’t care what they do either, it’s not a webpage I’m into!
Elon should make a NostriX app. Look, problem solved! ✌️
Would it be ok for the EU to ban Damus? Or primal? What about the relays?
Big Ben, so you agree on "being locked out" !?

that's sth for now
No. Shouldn't happen or be possible, which is why nostr 🚀
 No. Block yourself.
I think China was doing good when they rejected all the US based social media platforms.
I find it very frightening that people in the EU don't even bother when things like that get discussed. Why is there no pushback?
We the people can choose for ourselves! We don’t need government protection!
They shouldn't be banning any platform
So the illusion of freedom using captured platforms can continue?
People have to find their own way out. All we can do is show people what is going on. They have to decide for themselves.
The blue or the red pill.
"No one believes more firmly than Comrade Napoleon that all animals are equal. He would be only too happy to let you make your decisions for yourselves. But sometimes you might make the wrong decisions, comrades, and then where should we be?"
I wish the do it as soon as possible to show their real faces.
If Twitter hadn't been sold off, none of this would have ever happened. 😑
 EU can SUCK MY DICK
