I should learn to never buy store gift cards on @thebtcco. I end up getting burned every time and left wishing I'd just bought a VISA card instead. Today's PITA was Walgreens who apparently won't let you buy prescriptions with a gift card.
eBay fucked me a bit too. Can only claim 4 $200 cards per tx in a week or something ridiculously stupid. Not their fault, but I would love if TBC could get a TL;DR of the gift card’s use policy known to their customers
I've also had issues with eBay cards. I bought a bunch of miners to warm the house but they were classified as digital currency in the auction so eBay didn't want to let me use a gift card on them either. That one was a bit larger than today's medicine purchase though lol
It's really important to read the terms we provide about the cards, as well as the complete terms always linked to. Note that we don't set those terms, but eBay and Walgreen's (in the examples you gave). Prepaid Visa cards can be a better choice, although they do come with less rewards (except when we run promotions), and not every merchant will accept prepaid cards either. There's no perfect solution unfortunately, which is why we try to provide as many avenues as possible.
You guys rock! This was certainly not a hate on TBC post. You guys make it possible for me to survive. I will say not all vendors go by their own terms. I couldn't find anything about Walgreens not allowing prescriptions for gift cards in the prohibited items section. Even when I called their customer service I was given conflicting reports of it should work or not. That's a Walgreens issue though and nothing to detract from the service I get from TBC.
And another one... Just bought a Blockstream card to pick up a Jade but have no clue where to put the code in. Anyone used a Blockstream gift card before? nostr:nevent1qqsqacjydcjh85np68naq398x2djt6gwl38c5emukl8rm7xy95r3chgpp4mhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mqzyq84v0lzel03sr93q3vxh9v8xdu6ps0ae77rqx5qeqj47v73tupe6qcyqqqqqqguln6z7
