 I use hashtags for things that interest me. this helps me find people to follow.  the hashtag is useful with nostr. don't close your mind to it. #smij is my favorite hashtag, but I'm biased. 

 We need tags #as long as people use #them correctly 🐶🐾🤣🤣🤣 

 Not all clients support keyword search. Damus only allows hashtag search. 
So except when I’m goofing around (like I do sometimes) I usually try to use hashtags that people might use as search terms to find the note I’m posting.

 I only found yarn people because of following hashtags in Amethyst. I try to include as many yarn or craft related tags as possible in case there is someone out there looking to connect with another crafty person. That said I will throw in a dogstr or thighstr now and again 🤷‍♀️. I also post very irregularly.

I sometimes add silly tags but they are usually so random that there is no second post using them anyway 😂 

 That said, I once again push my unpopular opinion that we should use tags newbies can understand to push nostr forward. Yes, #tunestr is nice but #music does it, too.

 I wish my clients let me filter notes with an excess of tags.

Would also be a decent relay rule to reject such notes.

But the tolerance level will differ per person, and the response from spammers will be to just repeat the note with smaller tag sets.

 Relays can reject and clients can hide these objectively retarded notes. My client only considers the first 5 tags as legitimate. The rest is considered spam and will not be indexed.
