 Not everything is for discussing all the time. Every time I speak, it is not an opportunity to debate me on whether or not I’m doing it the way you would do it.

There’s critical thinking and speaking up for what’s right – and then there is being an asshole to a stranger for discussing something that have disdain for and, as a result, know nothing about.
 I don’t need you to tell me that Barbie is shallow. I don’t need you to tell me that TikTok is a tech company. I do not need you to tell me that I look better without makeup. I do not need you to explain that Beyoncé is a member of the capitalist ownership class.

I promise you that I already knew – and that five other men have told me those facts… or theories. I got it.

I’m begging you to consider, for a moment, that someone like me might know something you do not.
 @53de482a a big reason I follow you mate is I'm certain you know lots of things I don't, even putting your life experiences aside. Please tell me to fuck right off if I ever reply guy, I'm from Glasgow and am well used to it :)
 @2b425e6d Why are more men not like you 😭
 @53de482a oh I’ve been an arse plenty times, just ask my partner and she will list them all in order 🤣
 @53de482a achievement unlocked: being mansplained!
 @2fdd065a oh, don’t worry, I have the merit badges for that one 🙄
 If strangers at a party are talking about football and I go up to them and, before I join the conversation, they say “we’re talking about last night’s game,” I do not into a speech about CTE and the NFL and corporate media and how they should be spending their time.

I, as someone who hates football with every speck of my stardust, go to the other side of the room and start my own conversation about that or *anything I decide to talk about.*
 @53de482a I don’t like either football or TikTok, but that’s a me thing. When I was younger I did build (part of) my identity around not liking “sportsball” or whatever. These days I like to think I have grown up a bit and am happy other people have a hobby that brings them joy.
All this newfound equanimity goes right out the window though if people watch football matches or TikToks beside me using their phone speakers on loud!
 @53de482a
People talk about sports because they want to conform to society.

For those who don't know, here's Noam Chomsky on the role of sports in 'propaganda-based authority'.

That's how to talk about sports...

 @cce6a01a OK you’re missing the entire point
 @53de482a just responding to a statement that came up in my feed, which is the very point.
 @cce6a01a …No it isn’t 🤦
 @53de482a are you always like this?
 @53de482a it seems difficult for some people to just keep scrolling instead of starting an argument. I wonder where that need to comment on something they are not interested in comes from?
 As proof of the platform’s vibrance, here is a TikTok that encapsulates this whole phenomena way better than my rambling, frustrated thread https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT8MWGdhk/
 @53de482a That video is insanely on point, holy shit. Why people act like that in social media?
 @5cba2886 Constantly. Relentlessly
 @53de482a «with every speck of my stardust»

Wow, just

😙👌✨
