People keep telling me to call my Nostr posts "notes". Yes, it is "notes and other stuff transmitted by relay". But my note is a post. I posted it. I have used the term "post" for two decades. I posted it. This is Nostr. We don't have rules. I'll call them what I want. I called it a post. Fight me. I continue to call posts on "X" tweets as well. I tweet them. My father called tissues "Kleenex" down to his end days and I plan to do the same for this unless or until it just naturally feels right to do otherwise. Confession: my husband and I call them “nosts” because it’s a post on Nostr. Nost is also a verb to us. We enjoy nosting our nosts. Maybe I should just use the term openly and normalize it 😂 I’m happy for anyone to use whatever term they will @boatingaccident

A post definitely falls under the umbrella of “other stuff”. Posting something to Nostr is a completely acceptable use case for leveraging the notes *mechanism*. You can “post a note” but not really “note a note”. Post is the verb, note is the subject in this case. The verb form of “note” represents a much more brief, to jot something down in order to recall, or as to remember. The term “post” is literally used when you publish a message or picture. Makes much more sense over “note” tbh🤷 Also, in tech speak, POST is used to send data on the wire to create/update a resource. A “note” is usually a secondary datapoint that would be sent alongside the *post* action.
