Back to my nostr video series! Today I talk about how I was homeschooled. The good, bad and extremely ugly impacts that it’s had on my life. (Max doc link below) https://v.nostr.build/Eno8k.mov
Absolutely must watch video from @MaxDeMarco on homeschooling below! https://youtu.be/fQuuKLqKJS8?si=A8lhDNlaX_Hwwp4D
I think it's a little like the carnivore diet in that many of the benefits of homeschooling come from what you're not doing rather than homeschooling itself. The family unit is not completely dispersed for half the day. You're not subjecting your children to 10-12 years of fear programming & social conditioning. I don't think the approach to schooling matters as much as those 2 things.
Thanks for sharing this. I believe education is something a child experiences and seeks out through curiosity. Keeping an open mind and helping the child discover their natural genius is what I wish I could’ve had as a kid. Compulsory schooling crushes your soul, destroys your individuality, and kills your confidence. The ones that overcome this are the exception to the rule. Shared your video with others that have or plan to have children soon hoping they’ll drop this fear that homeschooled kids are antisocial. Compulsory schooling actually makes more people antisocial.
We started homeschooling in 2020 when we witnessed what the system was not teaching our children as they were “learning remotely” during the scamdemic. Our two daughters have flourished and one having learning challenges has been able to overcome a lot and blossom into young adulthood. She’s gained a lot of self confidence and is now working two jobs interacting with the public daily after she completes her schooling for the day. They are both more advanced socially and are able to have intelligent conversations with adults, look you in the eye and are confident. We are extremely happy with the decision.
