If it's a consensus rule it can work, mempool policy means nothing
I'm interested in what Ava killed... Luke seems to have been right over & over when it comes to how to build a more secure & robust system. And the compromises seem to have repeatedly weakened bitcoin. Adding something that people who are openly hostile to bitcoin want, without putting any limits in place seems like a really bad idea. Even Ava seems like a shitcoiner who is pretty openly hostile to bitcoin half the time.

I'm neutral on OP_CAT but that article and it's predecessor are such a joke, legacy media brain. Luke opened the PR in bad faith, knowing that a large number of devs opposed the change, then some shitposters started encouraging twitter-addicts to start dogpiling on the repo... Try finding a single PR with more than three NACKS from regular contributors that was merged! The repo is for technical discussion of changes, if you want to build consensus for a conceptually controversial change that lots of non-technical stakeholders have opinions about, you do it through other channels and the homestretch happens on the repo, like segwit, assumeutxo, etc. We should be vigorously debating these ideas but the repo is not the venue to debate an idea once serious opposition to it is presented by a small chorus of contributors.
