well, just to explain how i came to perceive her as i do, it has to do with following bad security advice from companies selling inadequate products
i've been following Schneier et al since around 2003 or so and was involved in early discussions around Tor and it makes me so annoyed when people parrot nonsense that is contrary to the facts of the subject of cybersecurity, and doubly, to the point i have to deploy smackdown, when they claim to be an expert on the subject
i don't spend my time writing about it all the time, because mostly i'm actually applying what i know to my programming work
I've been following Schneier only half as long as yourself, but even he has some dumb takes every so often.
People seem to need to be reminded to think about what they're reading, and disagree if necessary. Glad you're not among them!
yes, first rule of cybersecurity is
TRUST NO ONE
always DYOR and Don't Trust, Verify, etc
it's hilarious to have to point that out to people who claim to be bitcoiners
also, yeah, schneier's been pretty bad for about 5 years now... same political bullshit that i saw happen to boingboing.net and all its authors suddenly being very keen on writing against non-left wing politics, look also at what happened to Nassim Taleb, same fucking bullshit
makes me really wonder, how one would go about inducing these previously mostly reasonable people to start acting as hand wavers for your agenda?
