 He ask about fame, different than talent I suppose.
Skill wise I resent Mozart for his saccharinity.
I can live with Bach, but, probably embarrassingly, I suggest Scriabin or Rachmaninov.
I think Rachmaninov effectively concluded classical composition and fulfilled its premiss and potential.
Scriabin, while I heard some real drivel supposedly written by him, at his most successful sounds completely beyond, and unbound by conventional implements. I think he went to places that few people ever managed to bring something back from in any discipline.

 If you want to talk about 'best' then yes, I love Scriabin and Chopin and Rachmaninov. I never get tired of Etude Op. 8 No. 12. even though it is only 3 minutes long.

 Yep, and also yep, that etude with the clumsy title pretty much prompted me to write the latter half of my comment. I also hesitated between Chopin and Rachmaninov. I just liked remembering the later Romantics for a moment as I think they deserve more public recognition.
