Is there a difference between a business and a startup?

Thought there were no deletes on the Nostr 😂
Thought so here...
Good question. I think startups become businesses but they are starting up hence the name lol.
If I start selling popcorn on the streets can I say this is a startup?
I think you could if you have plans growing it. I don’t know the actual difference. Can ask ChatGPT
startups includes innovation and improving something that exists, just building a regular business necessarily doesn’t
You mean like sprinkling cinnamon on the popcorn?
One definition that I think makes sense is "startups are orgs operating under extreme uncertainty". By that definition, selling popcorn is probably not a startup.
Is the intent to IPO?
Only if you hype it up for the purpose of raising funds.
Yes they are just businesses. I've seen 8 year old companies call themselves startups. Startup is just a word that tech businesses use to make working overtime seem like a cool idea.
Startups are to business what pets are to wild animals.
Did you know ?: Unlike Zuckerberg with Facebook, @fiatjaf started the Nostr to chase women, away.
Business must’ve profit. Startups are just scam. 😂
Yes they are business. Startup is just a buzz word for investors to throw their money at them.
Nope. They are bums with a legal entity for the purpose of "raising capital".
