And the book of jasher keeps delivering more

Laban, the father of Rachel and Leah, who tricks Jacob into a second 7 year of service by pretending to give Rachel but then giving Leah, because of custom, has a set of "images" - "and some make them in the figures of men, of gold and silver" and these images were imbued with the power of clairvoyance

It does not say they were graven, and the thing I get from this is they were icons

Rachel steals them from Laban so that Jacob can escape without Laban knowing to where...

"images" is the words in the text, not idols. 

 I also am remiss to mention.. in the Bible and Genesis the "stealing of blessings"

In jubilees and in genesis it says the mother tells to wear Jacob to wear scraps of leather to trick Isaac

According to Jasher she only says to get goats to substitute for the venison, the story in it is very short.

Kinda seems like maybe in these other versions simply the delusion of esau the red hairy hunter boy is what ended up in the text

I might have to double check if I remembered that correctly, but I distinctly recall nothing about the fuzzy leather trick

And also to refresh myself about who is the mother and her history 

 yes, Rebecca, the mother, says to go bring two goats and prepare them to make the offering (bbq) before Esau returns from the hunt

Jacob just straight up lies and says "i am esau" when dad asks who it is and he eats and is happy and does the blessing

just a small detail, still a deception, and interesting the difference 

 honestly, if dad can't hear the difference, i suspect the account is wrong

i don't think any of the versions are correct precisely

the consequences of this supposed "stealing of blessing" are enormous, the entire rest of these two, Jacob and Esau's lives, are changed by this event, and yet it is very clear that the critical details, the origin story, are incomplete 

 also, thematically it is virtually the identical story as cain and abel and their offerings to the lord, and the chip on his shoulder that cain gets out of it that leads him to murder his brother

and interesting differences

jacob is a herder, abel was a herder

esau was a hunter, cain was a gardener

something tells me that there's more to this than meets the eye, and the common factor of being an animal husband is central to it

all of the animals that are "kosher" or "halal" are domesticated, i think that's part of it

i can't help but notice as i am surrounded by people raising sheep, goats and cows, mostly in very small lots, the cows usually just one poor lil boi by himself all lonely, and they stare at you, like, they clearly want you to come up and say hello, the sheep do it, the goats do it, and the cows do it

the chooks, funny enough, are the same, the number of times i've had them all scamper towards the corner of the enclosure if i decide to alight there and stay for a bit and say hello, they all think i'm good to be around, and usually they have never seen me before

these animals, that are good for us to eat LIKE us 

 i literally have been thinking about how i should sit and watch some video while my shoulder is so bunged up it's hard to type (have to carefully lift my arm gently to keyboard position)

i just confirmed as i suspected, that the trickery in mother rebecca encouraging jacob to deceive Isaac by bringing him a goat bbq dinner - in the Jasher version he doesn't wear any funny leather, he just says he's esau! still a lie tho

but i'm wondering if in fact the real story was simply that Isacc was so far towards losing his mind he just didn't remember or listen properly, probably half deaf, blind and poor memory all in one

because the rest of the whole story seems to be about esau's certainty that jacob "stole the blessing" and this led to bad luck somehow

in Jasher the story continues further and it is very clear that Jacob is not the kind of person who would engage in fraud knowingly, the way he defeats Esau's anger with kindness and generosity just doesn't seem like trickiness, and not only that, in Jasher it repeatedly says that Esau was a hairy redhead, and was tricky and conniving!

i forget which of Noah's sons was tricky and conniving but in Enoch he is also a redhead, and quite hairy

also, nothing to do with CO2 levels, these tall white skinned blonde/red haired humans with big heads (and brains, i assume) simply mastered science well before Adam and both genetics and medicine meant they were able to live for ~1200 years 

 ok, the stuff about the rapid formation of the rock layers that became the canyons of north america, are actually perfectly science

i was hoping i'd hear something to the effect of "the oceans boiled over and flooded onto the earth" and sure enough this scientist says so

i'm still quite sure the great flood was 12800 years ago, and 6400 years ago was the events of the colapse of the tower of Babel and the fire burning sodom and gomorrah

there is other evidence surrounding these other events

in The Apocalypse of Yajnavalkya they posit the theory it was meteors but that actually doesn't really make sense and is very unlikely

much more likely is that something caused the ocean to get punted over the sea... a pole shift, and epic geomagnetic disaster and seismic and volcanic activity and extreme cloud formation due to earth lacking its normal level of magnetic shielding 

 yeah, this is all in line with what Ben from Suspicious Observers says, about how every 6400 years there is a massive catastrophe, and some are worse than others

i sit each day with the view of a massive 1200m tall mountain beside me, and i have traveled around a bit in the local area and seen how fast it appears that the collapse is actually occurring

it seems impossible to me after what i see, that the current landscape looked at all like this even just 1000 years ago, it is really clear that the stone (mostly basalt) here has decayed and crumbled into the valley and that it is entirely possible that this entire island has only in fact been here maybe 6400 years and it was formed during the last disaster

which is leading me to think some more

why does it say in genesis about the ages of the people being so great, i mean, enoch, methuselah, even adam lived over 600 years, how can this reckoning match up with what we see today with lifespans under 100 years

however, if the Lord and the Satan and all the Angels were in fact these type of human that have long since been on vacation colonising other places in the galaxy, and their genetics were that different, this steady loss of longevity actually makes sense

anyhow, continuing, i'm not hating what i'm watching here at all, it's just adding more details to teh picture i've been building up 

 Jewish men are decent cooks (myself included) 👍👍
