 @bb3235e7 @134318c2 Electronic devices need different voltages and different amounts of power, so there will always be different power adaptors unless you make them all adjustable. Some need 5V, some need 9V, some need 12V, some even need 18V or 24V, some need symmetric power sources, some need two or three different voltages and a special plug with several prongs to deliver them all.

But isn't that part of what USB C is all about? A wide range of voltages and a single small connector that will fit on nearly every device? 
 @134318c2 @706554ec That's what USB-C aims to be. I cannot speak to how well it works though. I know that Dell's thunderbolt USB-C implementation has a lot of problems. I work on them for a living so I would know. 
 @bb3235e7 @134318c2 USB-C will never work for everything, although it has the potential to reduce the number of different i compatible power adaptors significantly.
