seriously, I'd pay money for a podcast player that cuts out any and all ads  

 (metadata to cut out ads could be crowdsourced and live on nostr, just saying)  

 (sats could be split/forwarded to podcast creators, just saying)  

 Use freetube and enable sponsorblock and don't watch any podcast that less than 2 days old. (Gives enough time for crowd sourced ad and sponsor blocking ) and they accept bitcoin donations. 

For the phone use bravenewpipe. Not newpipe. Bravenewpipes fork is better as it supports other platforms.  

 Sponsorblock is promising, but I don't use YouTube for podcasts. I use RSS only, and download the mp3s. Always.  

 There was a promising project in the past, but unfortunately it died (due to a lack of sat flow, which we now have - at least in theory)

 I use brave browser and stream there directly, built in ad blocker. 

You can also lock your device and the media will continue to play in the background! 

 That doesn't solve dynamic injection by the server at the point of download. 

 I think ads are just a lazy/comfortable way for creators to make money. They just need to believe in themselves and their product. Their audience will naturally support them.
