No one will leave or join because of the pronouns nip. It's so way past the wave. It's like selling black lives matter posters for your window now. The left and right don't even discuss it, it's beyond tired, it's a non issue. It's probably a bad sign that any dev thinks this is relevant to anyone.
Of course not. But if pronouns are not available, the door will always be closed to those that need it.
I wonder if we need a feed for everything one might want to add. Because people add a lot of info to, for example, their Twitter bio. What needs to be a specific field and what is to remain just text? What about academic titles? Many people include those. What about sexual orientation. Many people include it. What about disabilities? Many people include those as well. I'm not making any judgment about those who include any of these kinds of information, of course. But why is it that preferred "pronouns" (in quotes because, often, possessive adjectives are also included) in the English language (or, I suppose, some other language in which it can possibly sense) deserve a specific field or, as you say, some people "need" it, but there isn't a specific field for other things many would want to include? Obviously there can't be a field for everything, so what is worthy of one?
not directly probably, i don't care much about the profile field, but i think the discussion was good it is somewhat reassuring to also see many people in favor it already feels a bit more inclusive here
I honestly just suspect it was a nip-as-conversation piece lol Which I'm sort of in favour of lolol (as long as it's not a price of bitcoin nip 😮💨)
yes, it must be though yeah, i recently talked with two trans women who left nostr, and it was most certainly not because of lack of a pronoun field but a combination of lack of community and lots of haters and trolls; the first could potentially be solved i'm basically built out of razorwire and broken glass, and can survive here, but i definitely realize this isn't for everyone
