Maybe you should verify information before trust it 🫡
Are you suggesting the Saitama prefectural police didn’t track Yuta Kobiyashi’s credit card fraud laundering attempt through monero? Surely a court of justice will decide, but what evidence would you have otherwise? In case you were too busy or lazy to click through the article I originally posted to the source article, here’s that link. you might need a translator. https://www.nikkei.com/article/DGXZQOUE211MN0R21C24A0000000/
I don’t have evidence that Monero wasn’t compromized, but there is no evidence it was, it was never be in the past, every time someone was put in prison with the use of Monero, it was because of a bad opsec. In the article, they talk about analyse of Monero without details and credit cards involved, that really seems a bad opsec actually and not a break of Monero's privacy. Monero don’t need to be an expert to be anonymous, running it’s own node or using Tor is enough in the vast majority of usecase, but there is other points to check, especially if you are doing wrong things... so yes I have serious doubts about Monero being the way to track them
You said to him: “In case you were too busy or lazy to click through the article..” Go fuck yourself Austin. You do not have all the inside information on this matter. Believe whatever media you want dumbass. @Tortuga
they do NOT say they traced his laundering attempt through monero smartass nostr:nevent1qqs2uhhh4kh64sr9f733phmwtv3y469xwc5ujrj835jjrp2gj7zdwpgpzdmhxue69uhhwmm59e6hg7r09ehkuef0qgs0npwnpyvheqz7zuvuwvv9k460c0hyqlturds40hhfn34vufvehwcrqsqqqqqp0rwq9h
Credit card fraud sounds like they traced it when he LEFT Monero But really none of us know because it's vague and lacking in details If it's like any of the previous "MONERO WAS TRACED!!!" articles throughout the years, it was when they off-ramped to an exchange or swapped into transparent crypto. In other words, nothing to do with Monero. Receipts. Onus is on them to prove it since they are making the claim. Until then it's safe to assume its another clickbait article.
