 I don’t have evidence that Monero wasn’t compromized, but there is no evidence it was, it was never be in the past, every time someone was put in prison with the use of Monero, it was because of a bad opsec. In the article, they talk about analyse of Monero without details and credit cards involved, that really seems a bad opsec actually and not a break of Monero's privacy. Monero don’t need to be an expert to be anonymous, running it’s own node or using Tor is enough in the vast majority of usecase, but there is other points to check, especially if you are doing wrong things... so yes I have serious doubts about Monero being the way to track them
