My op sounds like a silly question that takes the piss out of modern Italy, but it is something that I really wonder about. It bothers me for some reason. I'm not Italian, so it's not personal. It's just so baffling that all the personality and organizational traits of the people that built one of the greatest empires just seemed to vanish.

The closest I came to a theory is the difference between northern and southern Italians. They are totally different. Northern Italians are closer to Austrians or Swiss or French. Northern Italy is well run, while southern Italy is not. Maybe the ancient Romans were closer to the northern Italians. Beyond that, I don't have a guess.

@Archivist of Santa's Workshop's Worker Safety Reco... @Shadowman311 @Zealist @Sick Burn, Bro primarily the area of and near sicily is worse affected by jews. but also theres a natural tendency within a country and sub contries for there to be a north south iq cline, and in itally sicily is the natural power base, so without some eugenic force or state force controling sicily it wont be at its optimum. also roman very rapidly took control of egypt and spain and so was able to utilize a lot of resources from a very early state, it also was not very politically stable, and originally it was a city state and then a coalition of city states exerting control over foreigners, once they enlarged politics became complicated and once they mixed theylost any racial optimum and started declining itally doesnt have the stability of being a single city nor is it in a postion to acquire resources to do what it will with, nor are its racial equals and superiors so unorganized nor could they be used to rejuvenate a disgenic population

Now “Babylon” is a joke and a historic site filled with brown people. Race mixing probably has something to do with it, perhaps what has a high floor has a low ceiling, who knows. Maybe cultures just get old like people do.

Good thoughts. Babylon and Persia were overrun by the Mohamedans from the Arabian deserts, which ruined them with Islam and inferior genetics. They still had respect in the world before that invasion though. Of everyone, China has survived longer as a civilization than probably anyone else, despite constant conquering and ethnic shifts. (There's no such thing as Han ethnicity. Northern and southern Chinese are totally different. But they still hang around for some reason.)

Although I’ve heard there are five major Chinese ethnicities. China may very well be what Europe would look like if the Meds, Germanics, and Slavs bonded into one superstate, and stayed that way for thousands of years. Something to think about, although Europe has *way* more languages.

"Han" as one people has been pushed as propaganda of the government for centuries. In China, it's generally understood that the northern and southern Chinese are very different, both culturally and how they look.
