In the white house there are special "burn bags" for extraneous copies of classified material. The trump administration was suspicious of the burn bags, imagining they were being sifted through by "deep state" "operatives."

This is pretty silly and paranoid. (I mean, unless you are plotting a coups.)

But I want you to imagine you walk into this guy his face with smoke curling around it, embers of burning documents flickering in his eyes.

Anyway! sleep tight tonight!

Though the burning thing is just another reason I don’t think I’ll bother with Cassidy’s book. She is always dropping little clues of ominous goings on. But then playing it like she too innocent to suspect anything. No one gets a job like hers being innocent. She is likely one of the smarter people they had around. I don’t buy the whole “oh golly gee Mark, I sure hope you aren’t an evil power hungry fascist. An innocent girl like me wouldn’t know anything about such complex political things!”
@134318c2 a while ago, for a Fall promotion, Trader Joe's paper bags were printed with red and white diagonal stripes, and every time I saw one I did a double-take like, "who's running off with stuff in a burn bag"
@134318c2 In the end, the bags are a convenience. If you're worried, shred the document yourself, tip the waste into the bag.

Not that this suggestion would make a difference: the paranoia was the actual end in itself. The Deep State is a mythological explanation of why the elites fail when trying to bend the "reality-based world" to their beliefs.

Wait. Wait. This just struck me. They were suspicious extra copies of classified material were being sifted through by people who would already have clearance to see the originals....?
