>run your ceiling fans counter clockwise 1. How? 2. How does that help?
I have no idea. My ceiling fan has two settings: on and off.
@Caek Islove 🍰 💖 @NotImportant Just about every one i've seen has a way to reverse the rotation.
@542debdc @Caek Islove 🍰 💖 @NotImportant does running it counter clockwise save power because of the earths rotation or something like that? :thinknyan:
I have never seen one like that in my life. Just a cord to pull to turn it on. I also what to know how that lowers power consumption? Less drag on the blades so it doesn't require as much electricity?
@NotImportant mine all have switches somewhere on the base to set rotation direction along with the pullcords for lights and on/off. As to less power consumption- no idea. I believe up/vs down air movement is supposed to be better for temperature control depending on heating vs cooling. Perhaps that is what they mean.
if you're some kinda PHYSICS PHAG, because of the angle of the fan blades, the rotation of the blades will cause cooler air to rise, or warmer air to ... fall. or maybe I have that backwards. I have my fans set to the "summer" (aka cooling) rotation year round.
Maybe it would make a difference if the room was huge, but my bedroom is like a closet 😂
I've heard it called summer and winter mode. And yeah, you have it right, hot air rises, cool air sinks. Switching it to "winter mode" in the summer is retarded, the point of the fan is to move air around, encouraging evaporation from your skin, keeping you cooler.
