 @680dad18 sounds like alot of work. I didn't know you were a programmer
 @369f21f8 See my profile... Well I have webpage too... but I had to update it :P
 @680dad18 I usually don't read more than 2 lines of a bio/profile, but yes:
"Programmer / Analyst: Unix only [because I can], anti-debianoids, anti-redhat, anti-systemd, anti-python, anti-web.
Specialist in optimization, countless compilers, countless languages, latex, ASM & C lover etc"
I did give in to systemD, but I roll my own kernel. I was visiting at UCSC when I realized I needed a custom kernel, and started with 4.9, but I run a compiler on debian.
 @369f21f8 Well they wrote 1M lines of code, to do something that you can do with few lines in shell. I dont trust the programmer, I dont trust the company... But the worst is they getting out of UNIX logic, especially with binary logs I get out of my self...
 @369f21f8 I dont like debian because for long time now it is in the hands of corporations. That is how all the useless scrap is passing to linux (consolekit 1&2, policykit, systemd, pulseaudio, etc)
 @369f21f8 btw, the main developers of systemd has wrote pulseaudio too, and he is working in Microsoft (officially)
 @680dad18 oh, you're talking about Lennart again. :blobcatsipsweats:
@369f21f8
 @680dad18 I will think about that.
There were good things about Debian 8 w/out systemD and with ALSA and a custom kernel, and still are.
At least you aren't forced to register to use pulseaudio.
 @369f21f8 There are many ex-debian distros without systemd... but I am from the slackware root and I dont know them, search in distrowatch.com . Now, ALSA is good, but you can use pipewire, it has compatibility with pulseaudio and jack and outputs to ALSA
 @680dad18 I have no part of policykit or consolekit, not ever.
 @369f21f8 It is embeded in KDE & GNOME, even XFCE...
 @680dad18 That is typical. Now look at #Mastodon with thousands of committs that have been hand washed by the CEO. He has committed them for various others.
Then, look at snac2 (on codeberg)
Compare the size, requirements and functionality. Ask me why I wonder about this. We only accept this as a stopgap measure. We would be better off with mass deployments of phpBB#, on random platforms with different security policies:
not all the same and connected with via a questionable protocol.
 @369f21f8 for 20 years I was woked with WinAPI... I decide to stop eating shits, I dont see web apps :P but you are unfair with mastodon since the matter here is the activepub, not the mastodon [which is written in Ruby!!!!] ... I hate all those interpreters and think that are interpreters which runs on interpreters :P
 @680dad18 well, snac2 handles it better. Yes, activitypub had issues beyond my understanding (ca. 2021), but I am clear about the fact that it is not what I want.
