I think they wanted to let it play and see if the press could continue to ignore/conceal his dementia from people that already don’t want to accept the truth. Another four years of unelected anons in the Oval Office. But cherry picking an unvetted replacement at the convention is a nice soft landing. The DMC’s media propaganda arm will lap this up. It won’t be Newsome or Kamala. Look for Michelle O or some other replacement with no track record.
