 Heโ€™s a Mastodon user. He doesnโ€™t know what a relay is. https://image.nostr.build/57fc1e42d8a04a9ecf32aa94f6be2bad2b133a168f8b09037e781ea204eeff71.jpg

Mostr is a bridge between Mastodon servers and Nostr. A Mastodon server generates Nostr secret keys for its users from the usersโ€™ Mastodon names and a secret key specific to the server. The Mastodon users donโ€™t even know their own nsecs. Posts to the Mastodon server are forwarded to Nostr relays (the server administratorโ€™s choice, I believe), and Nostr usersโ€™ notes are (sometimes) forwarded to the Mastodon serverโ€™s users.

This is often true, but there are exceptions. Last year I followed @Stacy , who seems nice if a little too into politics. Unfortunately whenever I replied to her, she never responded. I think her Mastodon server is forwarding her posts to Nostr, but not Nostr notes to her. (Or sheโ€™s ignoring me. ๐Ÿ˜•) Itโ€™s a one-way conversation now.
