Lots of rabbit hole leads to follow but really, setup a profile, add a ln address, and just start following and interacting.  My only other advice would be to setup a new account to "test" with. One to maybe make mistakes with where the future impact can be less.

Nostr identities don't have to map to any other identity., digital or IRL.
